Moving from QTP to UFT

Jump to solution

Hi,

I have all of scripts in QTP 11 and we are planning to move to UFT soon.

Are all scripts and VBscipts compactible with UFT?

What are other issues encountered running QTP 11 scripts in UFT?

Please let me know. Also, is there any documents or articles I can reference.

Thanks,

Hello,

You can refer to the following KB article:

What is the test compatibility between QuickTest Professional (QTP) / Unified Functional Testing (UFT GUI) versions?

http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/document/KM00208465

I hope this helps clarifying.

@qaexpert,

While the scripts will be compatible when you move to UFT, in our experience (and we have a lot of QTP users), trying to upgrade a systems from QTP 11 to a version of UFT (say 11.53) is problematic. Many times the upgrade has reported success, but we have later had various sporadic problems with running UFT.

If you have the option to set up new machines to run UFT (ones that have never had QTP installed), that is ideal.

The next best option seems to be completely uninstalling QTP and going through some additional manual process to wipe all traces of QTP from the system. The following article addresses how to do a clean uninstall of QTP.
