QTP/UFT support tip: When running a test in QC an error message "Catastrophic failure" appears

When running a QuickTest test from Quality Center and a single step took a long time (such as generating a report in the tested application) even though QuickTest continued to run the test, the Quality Center run sometimes failed and reported a catastrophic failure error.


There is a parameter you can add into QTP mic.ini in order to fix this problem.


How to add the parameter:

-Please access the QTP bin folder, by default is “C:\Program Files\HP\QuickTest Professional\bin”

-Open the mic.ini file
-On the [Remote Agent] section add this as a new line: HandleLongTrans=1
