SystemUtil.CloseDescendentProcesses hangs

I am using UFT 12.0.723.0 on Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64 bit, logged in as a user with admin rights, launching UFT using the Run As Administrator option.

I wrote the following simple script:

Dim x
SystemUtil.Run "Notepad.exe"
x = SystemUtil.CloseDescendentProcesses
Msgbox x

 I set a break point on SystemUtil.Run, then began execution.

I stepped into the SystemUtil.Run command and saw the Notepad window open successfully.

I then tried to step into the "x = SystemUtil.Close..." command, and UFT has locked up.  I can't stop the test using the Stop button. UFT is totally non-responsive.  I have to use Microsoft Task Manager to kill UFT.

Please advise.

Hi Trudy,

I used exactly the same sample script that you have on UFT 12.01 Build 1112 and everything works fine.

So you may want to upgrade to this version which I think is the latest one.

Thanks.

Gilbert

Thank you for the suggestion.

I would, however, like HP Support to chime in on this issue.  We have also seen the same code hang in UFT 11.53, but not consistently.
