UFT 12.52 is very slow in Microsoft Edge browser

Hi All,

We are currently checking automation feasibility of our application using UFT 12.52 in Microsoft Edge browser in Windows 10(64 Bit OS) machine.

On initial analysis we found that, UFT is identifying most of the controls just like previous UFT versions. Currently we are facing some other issues which were not encountered in UFT 11.5.

1. Execution of scripts are VERY SLOW in Edge Browser. We were able to run same scripts without any performance issue in Windows 2008 R2 machine in IE 11 browser. But in Edge, it is very slow in terms of execution time. For instance, in UFT 11.5, IE 11 browser, if a particular workflow was taking 1 minute to complete the execution, it is currently taking nearly 5 minutes in Windows 10(64 bit), Edge browser. This will in turn increase our total execution time as we have automated nearly 2300 test cases using UFT 11.5.

Note: Same scripts are running fine(without any performance issue) if we select "Open with Internet Explorer" option in Edge browser.

2. No code is getting generated while Recording workflows.

Could some one help us to resolve this critical issue as early as possible?

This might not be the answer you would like to hear, but keep in mind that HPE has not announced the offical suport for Edge yet. If you look into the latest PAM (Product Availability Matrix) as of June 22, 2016, they are stating the support towards Edge as to be seen as a "Technical preview".

This means that you will bump into these types of issues and faults. My personal recommendation is to contact your HPE-representative directly and/or log a support request (if your company bought support).

While HP has move forward with Edge support, owing to limitations on Edge browser by Microsoft, there is still very limited support. There is no support for recording yet on Edge browser even with the latest UFT 12.53.

However, you can still run the previously created scripts you may have created on some other browser.

Please check the latest documentation and now record on Edge support is added with some limitation in release 12.53:

I also suggest to use a newer version of Win10 rather than the RTM version 10240. The performance of Edge itself is not so good in build 10240. With Microsoft's autumn patch 10586, the performance of Edge is greatly improved and so will UFT's performance.
