UFT 12 with IE11 - Xpath identification issues

We have a UFT Framework with UFT 12 (unpatched), and since Microsoft's announcement about support for IE versions 10 and under we've upgraded a couple of test PCs to IE11.

We have some objects that we identify using Xpath within Descriptive Programming and these are not being found on IE11. The xpaths use an ancestor node to identify a WebTable thus

ParentObj.WebTable("html tag:=TABLE", "xpath:=\\div[@id='identifier']\\table")

In the example above, the table node can be matched on its own, but it is one of many table nodes. The problem is that the whole xpath match fails.

UFT 12 recognises this object perfectly well on IE9 and IE10. It is only on IE11 where the object is not identified.

To me it seems that the problem is with IE11, or at least UFT12's interaction with it. I have checked that the BHOManagerClass addin is enabled and it is.

Does anyone have any ideas?
