UFT Support tip: Running tests containing recovery scenarios through Silent Test Runner or LR/PC

When running a Unified Functional Testing (UFT) test containing a recovery scenario through Silent Test Runner or LoadRunner/Performance Center, the recovery scenario will be triggered correctly but will not be executed. Instead, the script terminates early and reports a "Pass" to LoadRunner/Performance Center.

This behaviour is caused by the fact that recovery scenario execution is not supported through mdrv which is the process used for the test execution through Silent Test Runner, LoadRunner or Performance Center. However, even though that this is an unsupported feature, it is possible to execute recovery scenarios when running tests through mdrv if all of the below conditions are met:

  1. You are using UFT 12.02 patch 2 or higher.
  2. Microsoft Script Debugger is installed. This can be selected during UFT installation or it can be manually installed at a later time.
  3. DWORD ConnectScriptDebugger withing registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mercury Interactive\QuickTest Professional\MicTest is set to 1.
