UFT WebSerice Testing - Can't link a DATE field child of a DateType field

There are 3 date fields in the imported WSDL.  Two are standard "Date" fields.  One is a Date field sub of a DateType field under an array.  I cannot link the latter to a Data source.  UFT (version 12.51) only lets me pick a date from the calendar dropdown - the link icon won't even appear.  I can't figure out why this is happening.

The one that isn't working displays the following in Grid View (Text View doesn't look any different from the other two fields)

ActionDateRepresentation (array)

   ActionDate {DateType}

        Date {date}

The other two (which can be linked) are like

DOB

    Date {date}

Any suggestions welcomed.

Re: UFT WebSerice Testing - Can't link a DATE field child of a DateType field

You can edit the Request directly before it's sent. Here's an example.

 public void ChangeFormattedDate_OnBeforeExecuteStepEvent(object sender, STActivityBaseEventArgs args)
 {
  string strStartDate = this.CodeActivity45.Output.RequestXMLFormat_StartDate;
  this.StServiceCallActivity7.InputEnvelope.SelectSingleNode("/*[local-name(.)='GetInfo'][1]/*[local-name(.)='GetInfoRequest'][1]/*[local-name(.)='period'][1]/*[local-name(.)='startDate'][1]").InnerText = strStartDate;
 }
