[QTP 11 Support Tip]: IE crashes, when Silverlight application is tested.

Hello all,

How are you? I hope you are fine :)

In QuickTest Professional 11, the issue may occur, that the Internet Explorer crashes, when trying to test a Silverlight application. Such issues have been resolved using the following patches and hotfixes:

QTP_00709 - Updates for QuickTest 11 (patch)

QTP_00940 - Prevent Internet Explorer Crash When Loading Silverlight Applications While Symantech Intrusion Prevention is active. (hotfix, please request from HP Support via http://support.openview.hp.com)

QTPWEB_00090 - Support Firefox 4-8 (accumulative patch, includes all previous patches related to the Web AddIn; prerequisite for all following Web AddIn patches and hotfixes)

Please note, that the patch QTP_00940, although mentioning Symantec Intrusion Prevention only, might be applicable for other HIPS software as well. In order to check this, please open a case via the online case manager at http://support.openview.hp.com. Functional Testing Support will then check this with Level 3 and R&D.

I hope these information help.

Best regards,

Tino Pacholski
