QTP/UFT Support Tip: How to improve runtime performance in Silverlight tests

Hello everyone,

There are cases in which the runtime performance in QTP/UFT is affected in tests against Silverlight applications. To improve performance you can try the following changes in QTP/UFT (for QTP 11 only, make sure to have Installed the QTPNET_00120 hotfix already):

  1. Open the Object Identification dialog box (Tools > Object Identification).
  2. For each Silverlight test object, add the 'devnamepath' property in the Mandatory Properties area.
  3. To apply this fix to test objects in existing object repositories, run your tests for Silverlight applications in Update Run Mode (Automation > Update Run Mode).
  4. Additionally, try to disable the Active Screen capture feature (go to Tools -> Options -> Active Screen, and set the Capture Level to "None").

I hope this helps.
