QTP/UFT Support Tip: License Installation Error [143]: Failure accessing the license file.


During the installation of a new license on the QTP/UFT concurrent license server using the WlmAdmin tool, and selecting: Add Feature > From String > To server and its file

You might see the following error message in a pop-up:

 

 

 

The following are the potential causes for this:
 
- Lack of permissions to write/read the file.
- Located is not accessible/available.
- Corrupted/damaged file.
- Incorrect filename or path is defined in the lservrc environment variable.
 
 
The solutions for the first two, are related OS checks which can be assessed by your IT support personnel.
For the last two, it'll be necessary to recreate manually the license file and redifine the environment variable to the proper value. Below KB articles might be relevant:
