The Inventory discovery by Scanner job can populate the software installation date

Hi All,

My customer want populate the software installation date in CI Instances. 

 As I know the Software Installation Date populated in the CI Instances by running the Host Applications by Shell/WMI, Host Resources by Shell/WMI.

But customer only want to run the Inventory discovery by Scanner job to populate the Software Installation Date because run Host Applications by Shell/WMI, Host Resources by Shell/WMI discovery to populate Software Installation Date on installed software Cis as this will creates all unnecessary packages as installed software Cis.

I can see from the QCCR1H108120 it's the same issue, however the issue under investigation.

So please help us to check and give some solution for that.

Hi,

Inventory discovery by scanner job discovers the normalized installed software by processing scan file through XML enricher.  Field called "OS Installed Application Installation Date" already captures installation date of software but still it is not available in the installed software CI.

On the other hand Host Applications by Shell/WMI, Host Resources by Shell/WMI discovers all the installed packages with installation date of software as the installed softwares which is not the right way to discover normalized installed softwares..

Product team should include a way to add software installation date for normalized installed software discovered through Inventory discovery by Scanner.

Hi Mike, we will discuss the topic again next week. It will require linking the installed software that is reported by the OS and the file based discovered software (which is good but requires high effort).

I will keep you (and the thread posted on our plans).
