uCMDB Support Tip: How to set up multiple db2 credentials in one DB2 discovery
Question:
When user wants to discover multiple DB2 databases, is it possible to add only one configuration for all DB2 credentials in the discovery, like Oracle DB discovery?
Solution:
In UCMDB 10.x, there is, actually, such a capability. It is just necessary to detect the DB2 instances first.
If users do not want to configure Database Name/Instance Name for DB2, it can be left empty. But they have to run other jobs to discover DB2 instance CIs before running DB2 Universal Database Connection by SQL job, such as Host Application by Shell or DB Connection by Shell job.
And then, DB2 Universal Database Connection by SQL could get Database Name from DB2 Instance CIs.
But it also might cause performance issue, since the job will try all the combinations of IP + PORT + Database Name + credential, just like an Oracle job.
