Installing Vibe alongside other products
Good afternoon,
What are people's views on installing Vibe alongside other products?
I have a SLES 11 (64bit) server running NMS 3.0, with over 100GB disk space, and can increase the RAM (VMWare hosted) if needed. I would be looking at using another (already installed) server to store documents on. Has anybody else done this / run into problems etc?
Cheers,
Tom.

Hi Tom,
How many (active) end users would be using the Vibe and Messenger system?
Messenger and Vibe don't have conflicting ports by default (see https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7009520). Haven't checked it Messenger 3.0 has added ports to consider.
The needed space for Vibe is, in my experience, always a bit hard to plan for in advance. The database is usually not the issue, but planning on what users will be putting into Vibe can be difficult (especially if you will be offering end users options like the Vibe Desktop sync).
So far I've mostly calculated 5 GB per user, and that has worked out fine and it's good to place user space restrictions from the get go. I would try to keep documents on the Vibe server, unless you are looking to work with mirrored folders... that last option does have limitation and possible issues to look out for, and I'm careful using that option.
Cheers,
Willem

Willem,
Sorry I have only just seen your reply, so apologies and thanks to you! We have around 100 users using NMS and would have around the same for Vibe. Space won't be an issue as I can just add an extra drive for Vibe (VMWare).
Cheers,
Tom
