Link to a (opened) file

From a html-text in a workspace I would like to link to a file in some file folder, say abc.pdf. I would like to do that with the cube-icon in the htlm-editor and not by permalink. Well, indeed I know how to do this. But what I really want to link at, is not the file abc.pdf, but I would like to link to the opened abc.pdf. So if a user clicks on that link, he should see the content of abc.pdf.
Is that possible? If yes, how?
Best regards, Uwe.
