we just released the 3.3 version on the 16th, so I'd recommend upgrading to the latest released version and 3.3. And let us know if this is still happening. And is this only one machine, or all of them for you?

We already have version 3.3 !
The problem still exists.

Looking at that, it appears to be a weird error in Python, but I'm not sure that is actually the error.

1. Did you update to the newest version? When you posted the case originally, we had a 3.3 beta and same with the desktop. I'd like just to confirm that you upgraded after the 16th and went with the newest release.
2. Have you tried this on any other clients? Do you get the same problem?

Hello all

I have a similar problem as described. We are using Vibe 3.3 and I was upgrading my Win7 x64 laptop from the beta desktop client to the 1.0 release client. After installing and changing to our new domain name server for Vibe I continually get an error "An unknown error occured while connecting to the server. Please contact your system administrator".

I then removed the desktop client, cleaned out password cache and removed all Vibe desktop links in the registry as documented here - Novell Vibe Desktop for Windows

I reinstalled the desktop client msi from downloads.novell.com, and tried to reconfigure and attach to our vibe server resulting in the same error as above. I have captured the error log on the local machine in the following directory - %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Novell\Vibe Desktop - the error log is:

2012-09-06 11:16:47,846 [ERROR] Exception: <class 'httplib.IncompleteRead'> (aca.excepts)

File "httplib.pyo", line 637, in _safe_read
IncompleteRead: IncompleteRead(931 bytes read, 3165 more expected)

I have also tried to install and configure the desktop sync client on a MacBook Air resulting in the same error message.

There are several others at our institution with this same problem, has anyone found a fix for this?

Thanks in advance

I would like to add that I have the latest version installed on two systems. On my own system, it works just fine. On another user's system neither of us can log in, but only I have gotten the "Unknown error has occurred when saving your settings." error though I do also get the other one which she only ever gets .

I'm wondering if there's possibly a rights issue to a config file or temp folder or something?

I have uncovered some other oddities, admittedly this could be a configuration issue within our load balancer. When connected via Wi-Fi to our vibe environment I have no issues with the Vibe desktop client, authentication works and files are syncronized. However when I use a wired connection the desktop client is not able to authenticate. I used "fiddler" to see what the error is. From the logs there is a 504 error, and the server does not return a response to the authentication request.

Thanks
