New to Visual COBOL - Error help

Jump to solution

I have been a long time NetExpress user and have just moved over to Visual Personal COBOL. It installed just fine, but when I opened Visual Studio 2012 in Windows 8, I got the following error.

Does anyone know what I should do about it? Is there a way to disable the Enterprise Server as I do not need that installed?

I need to have this resolved ASAP as I need to learn the new platform, test my existing .cbl programs and put out step-by-step documentation so I can get my students up and running. Monday starts the 4th week of the semester and we were just told today that our NetExpress licenses that are expiring are no longer available for our students and that we all have to move to Visual COBOL.

What is the actual product that you have installed, Visual COBOL or Enterprise Developer?

What is the exact name of the installer file that you ran to install the software?

The Micro Focus CES daemon is a Windows service that is installed with Visual COBOL that handles the communication with the License Manager. It should be started automatically.

Look under Administrative Tools-->Services for Micro Focus CES Daemon as shown below and make sure that it is set to automatic and that it is started.
