Adaptive Agent install deletes desktop

I apologize for all the questions, but I'm running into more issues than I thought I would.

When I deploy the adaptive agent to certain workstations, it deletes the Desktop folder for that user. The workstations all have DLU running and are managing a local account called "Administator". The "manage existing user account" box is checked. When the agent deploys, it creates another local account called "Administrator-<workstationname> and it deletes the "Desktop" folder under the old "Administrator" account.

Is this working as designed? If so, what can I change in my DLU settings so that this does not happen?

Thanks!

You don't have volatile checked?

Re: Adaptive Agent install deletes desktop

I have the "Use the credential specified below (always volatile)" checked with the User Name of "Administrator" The way we had it set up in ZEN 7 was that the teachers all log in with their NDS name and it uses the local "Administrator" account. If one teacher leaves something on the desktop, the next teacher who logs in will see it. Manage Existing User account is checked. Enable volatile user cache is not checked.

For the student DLU policy I have "Use user source credentials" checked along with volatile user. Each student gets a profile created in his own name and it is deleted when he logs out. I have manage existing account checked and enable volatile user cache not checked.

And now one of the machines has created an "Administrator.<machinename>.000" profile and has AGAIN deleted the desktop from the Administrator.<machinename. profile. So now I have three administrator profiles. This is NOT good!

This always worked with ZEN 7...what am I doing wrong in ZCM?

Re: Adaptive Agent install deletes desktop

Well, that setting is "Always Volatile".
In ZDM7, there is a setting in WM to "Cache" the Volatile Account so it does
not get deleted.

In ZCM10 there is a setting the the DLU Policy to Enable "Volatile User
cachining" starting in ZCM 10.2 (Make sure you have that to even see the
option.)
However, there is a bug in 10.2.0 (The 1st time this feature was available),
where it did not work for "Specific Credentials" like you are doing.
This will be fixed in 10.2.1

In the DLU policy, under User Config I have:
Use user source credentials
Volatile user
Use the credential specified below (Always volatile)
User Name *
Full Name
Description

Manage existing user account (if any)
Enable Volatile User cache
Cache Volatile User for time period (Days)

I do not have the "Cache Volatile User" checked.

So if I understand this, there is no way (like in Zen 7) to create one "Administrator" account that does not get deleted every login. Every time I log in I will get a new profile from the server?

Also, any idea why I now have three "Administrator" directory structures on my disk and why my desktop gets deleted on every login?

Thanks for any help. This deployment is not going well at all!

Re: Adaptive Agent install deletes desktop

"Cache Volatile User for time period (Days)" is what you want.
But it just not work for the DLU setup you currently have.
That is scheduled to be fixed in 10.2.1

Re: Adaptive Agent install deletes desktop

School starts in three weeks. Any timeframe on the 10.2.1 release?

Re: Adaptive Agent install deletes desktop

I just downloaded 10.2.1 and it appears that my problem is NOT fixed, but is pending. I think I am experiencing:

Bug 522755 ZCM 10.2 DLU policy creates a new user profile on every login

Any ideas on when they will be getting to this one? I'm on hold until then!

Re: Adaptive Agent install deletes desktop

Well it is supposed to be fixed.
Make sure you have enabled caching in the policy and updated your agents.

You may also need to increment your policy version number and make sure the
agents do a refresh and are reading the new policy.
