DLU volatile user login problem at once after restart

Hi!
Probably related to thread "10.3.3 XP Clients Not seeing available bundles for 4-5 min" (http://forums.novell.com/novell/novell-product-discussion-forums/zenworks/configuration-management/zcm-10/zcm10-agent-deployment/443389-10-3-3-xp-clients-not-seeing-available-bundles-4-5-min.html).
ZCM 10.3.3 on top of SLES 11 SP1, Windows XP / 7 devices.
When I login with dynamic volatile user on device just restarted I can login wo any problems (I mean, little delay with N ... - by design? -, but CAD screen disappear after that, no problem), device is in green on ZCC, remote connection does work ok, but after few minutes I see error on desktop that "Desktop refers to a location that is unavailable [...]". When I check user profile I see just dir's Application Data, Local Settings and Cookies and files ntuser.dat.log, ntuser.dat. Strange, also, but seems to connected to case I mentioned before. When I wait 10 minutes before to login (on CAD screen) ... no such a problem. Also, I see on device that first user profile is created ok, see desktop on screen and ... then this error and on desktop just few icons ... As we do use DLU volatile accounts in computer rooms for students, this is very bad when some of users does restart computer whatever reason. Additionally for thread before I did open a SR 10725162201 for this problem. Has anyone seen this problem?
More thanks, Alar.

Re: DLU volatile user login problem at once after restart

Hi!
Sorry. Nothing to-do with ZCM! Huh! I found source of the problem -- just me. After I'd send a SR request it cleared for me. I had/have for long time one bundle which does delete during device boot profiles shouldn't be there. Sometimes dlu volatile profiles wasn't deleted after user logout (it happen, that's ok), so, I made a bundle (script) for this and set it to run every boot. So, if we login at once after restart it (bundle) just did the job and removed profile in question. Totally my fault! I'm glad I sorted this stupid fault out so quickly and didn't cause much trouble for support.
Sorry for bother!

Re: DLU volatile user login problem at once after restart

Hi!
Probably bad choice of words from my side, not so good with English. But, I'd want to be clear -- wasn't ZCM fault.

NovAlf,

it was a good choice of words, I just wanted to celebrate it not being
our fault 🙂

Re: DLU volatile user login problem at once after restart

I do know if my question was the same like it....
I set DLU Volatile User (No cache setting), sometime user account was be deleted, but profile still keep.....My ZCM Version is 10.3.0(I had test 10.3.3...I could deplicate the issue).....I open SR, and support give me a ftf...I test it OK on my lab (testing about 50 times login/logout/reboot)...but it work fail on production environment...I try to delete the profile by manual...but ntuser.dat & ntuser.dat.log were not be deleted....Whether these files were the reason of my question or not ?/

Re: DLU volatile user login problem at once after restart

Wyld,

I am sure that if those files could not be deleted, then we can't
remove the profile - /why/ they were locked is a different matter. Were
they still locked after a reboot?

Re: DLU volatile user login problem at once after restart

HI Shaun
No, these files (ntuser.dat and ntuser.dat.log) could be deleted after reboot....but if DLU Volatile User setting could not force delete the profile...the function seem not complete, right ?

Re: DLU volatile user login problem at once after restart

Wyldkao,

if Windows won't release the files, we can't delete them - but we
should clean them up after a reboot
