Re: Discovery tasks pending

Server firewall disabled. I am not sure if i chose to use SSL or not
during the install. Would that make a difference?

I opened the log but, i am unsure what to look for. Cani e-mail it to you?

Re: Discovery tasks pending

Make sure you read my last post. Also, i am running this on WIN server
2003 r2. I installed the ZCM module under sp1 and made sure it worked.
After that I installed sp2. Do you think that is the issue?

Bobby U,

No worry, there isn't any such option during the install.

Sp1 and SP2 should both work properly.

Re: Discovery tasks pending

It seems to me that you need a dns record after looking at the log file.

I would edit "c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" and add the server
hostname to the IP address that the server has been assigned.

I would point to the real IP of the server and not 127.0.0.1
Reboot after this and make sure that you can ping the hostname after
rebooting.

Re: Discovery tasks pending

For the record, looking at zmd.log, the log you sent me, I found the
following errors log.

[DEBUG] [11/13/2007 1:48:25 PM] [] [RegistrationManager] [] [Unable to
register the device with any service] [] [] [DEBUG] [11/13/2007
1:48:25 PM] [] [RegistrationManager] [] [Error during device
registration: Unable to register the device with any service. See log
for details.] [] [] [DEBUG] [11/13/2007 1:48:25 PM] []
[RegistrationManager] [] [Unable to update device status with any
service] [] []

This does show attempts to register with the ZCM system, but fails as
it could not query for running services. This would make me think that
reverse lookup is failing.

Re: Discovery tasks pending

I tried to download the zcm 10.0.1 today. When i get to the downloads page
and finally get to the download link it points to a bad address page. I
have cleared my IE7 cache and still no go. Can you get to the part where
the download asks you to save or run?

Re: Discovery tasks pending

bobby u,

Sure
http://download.novell.com/sendredirect?target=%2Fprot%2FmQ4JPGAwl9I%7E%
2FZCM10_0_1.iso&buildid=mQ4JPGAwl9I~&fileid=J3HxI3rAi_s~&mirror=AkamaiHo
st&nohost=false

You must still authenticate and you want to use a download manager. I
use wget for all my large downloads, but I am running on linux.

wget --http-user=username --http-passwd=password 'url'

Be sure to put the url that I posted above in single quotes as I have
shown.

Re: Discovery tasks pending

Bobby,

do be aware that you cannot /upgrade/ using this ISO, you would need to
uninstall 10.0.0 before installing this, and that would wipe out any
data you have in the database, so you'd be starting again.

Re: Discovery tasks pending

I am over ZEN 10. I just got back form a $3,000 training class on Zen and
still cannot get this to work!

I unstalled Zen 10 and deleted it from the registry. Rebooted, and
reinstalled the ZCM 10.0.1. Same issue, discovery stay in Pending state. I
have tried a discovery using the Active Directory user i have and the ZEN
ADMIN USER i set up. My user sources are green, i have not set up Policies
or relationships so that should not be a problem (i Hope).

I tried an IP discovery and LDAP discovery. I can guarantee it is
soemthing i have setup wrong but, i cannot figure this out! I am actually
desperate at this point. I just hired a certified Novell customer to fix
it but they are so busy he cannot schedule until Dec 20th.

Please help.

not sure what you mean here - you're saying these are the users you tried
logging in to ZCC as?
When you set the discovery did you do it to a schedule, or "now"? Have you
activated the patch management download, and has it finished?

Re: Discovery tasks pending

I have an AD user for Zenworks and I set up a Zenadmin in ZCM 10. i tried
to run discoveries using both usernames.

I set the schedule to "now"

I do not use Patch Management in ZCM 10 since I have a separate Patchlink
server ver 6.3. That is why the Patch Management module was not installed.
