How to keep machines patched

I am currently using Shavlik for patch management but would like to look at
Zenworks. Can someone tell me how you manage to keep machines patched that
are not always on the network? In other words how do you guarantee all your
machines are patched? When they come back onto the network does Zen
automatically apply the patches?

Re: How to keep machines patched

Bad,

is this within ZENworks Configuration Management, or are you looking at
standalone ZENWorks Patch Management? There is quite a difference
between the way they deploy, so it's important we understand what
you're looking towards...

Re: How to keep machines patched

Bad,

OK, you would deploy patches to the machines, but there are a couple of
issues: 1) ZENworks doesn't know that the workstation needs the patch
until the Discover Applicable Updates bundle has run (and it would need
to run after you downloaded the signatures for a new patch), and then
2) you can deploy the patch, but the workstaiotn would need to connect
again to get it.
