Launch of NalWin at startup

Hello,

I would like to start the NalWin.exe via Login Script in "secret" mode, that the user can't close the NAL.

Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1
ZCM 11
OES2 Server

With the Login Script: @C:\"Program Files (x86)"\Novell\ZENworks\bin\NalWin.exe i get an error.

Do you have any ideas?

Thanks for your help

Try nalwin.exe /s.

Tomcatde,

make that C:\"Program Files (x86)\Novell\ZENworks\bin\NalWin.exe /s"
You had the quotes in the wrong place, and as Joe says, you need /s

Re: Launch of NalWin at startup

I get this error now:

LOGIN-LGNWNT32-740: Ausführen des externen Programms C:\ "Program Files (x86)\Novell\ZENworks\bin\NalWin.exe /s" nicht möglich.

There is a blank between C:\ and "Programm Files 😞

Re: Launch of NalWin at startup

Skript-Fehler:
LOGIN-LGNWNT32-600: Interpretieren der Zeile nicht möglich.

Die Originalzeile lautete:
@"C:\Program Files (x86)\Novell\ZENworks\bin\NalWin.exe" /s

Same error 😞

What Novell Client on the Win7 machine? Your error doesn't indicate it
can't find Nalwin, but it rather says it doesn't understand the whole
thing, e.g it doesn't know it's supposed to run it. There has been some
bugs in the Win7 client in the past with executing external
applications. You may also try "#" instead of "@" and see if that works.

LAst but not least of course, I personally prefer using zenworks to
launch nalwin instead of the login script.

have you tried

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Novell\ZENworks\bin"\NalWin.exe /s

or

"%programfiles(x86)%\Novell\ZENworks\bin"\NalWin.exe /s

Why not create a bundle set to launch at user login that launches nalwin?

Re: Launch of NalWin at startup

Hello,

with SP2IR2 same behaviour 😞
Is it Novell Client or OES2 related problem?

Re: Launch of NalWin at startup

Why does this have to be run from the login script?

Why not just use a registry key set in the HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run folder and launch it from there?

That's how the ENGL toolkit sets it up when I do my imaging and it seems to work nicely for me, regardless of the Novell Client version as well

You can even create the appropriate keys in the registry using a ZCM bundle to make the deployment simple
