Re: Login Issue after upgrading zo 11.1 on Win7SP1 WS

Yes, the Novell Identity Store Service was missing after an upgrade only (in our environment) under the following testing/config;
-A Windows 7 SP1 + Novell Client 2 IR8 + w/ ZCM 11.0 CumulativeUpdate1 > Using System Update Deployment through ZCC/ZCM.
-A Windows 7 SP1 + Novell Client 2 IR8 + w/ ZCM 11.0 CumulativeUpdate1 > Manual Upgrade from ZenPreAgent downloaded from our server Server
-The Second Primary Server running Windows Server 2008 R2 x64. The First primary server installation/upgrade into server environment was successful, however upgrading the remaining servers removed the Novell Identity Store Service. (Required running msiexec.exe /fa "PATH TO CASA OR AuthTokenClient" to repair properly on server)

A fresh install of the ZCM11 SP1 client (new image), Novell Identity Store was successfully there. It does appear to upgrade specific in our environment.

As I stated before, it is not such a huge inconvenience for us since we are rebuilding our image with the new agent and do not have thousands of production units yet. It does shake our confidence slightly since this is the second upgrade we have had issues with. 🙂

Thanks,
Luke

Re: Login Issue after upgrading zo 11.1 on Win7SP1 WS

Luke,

we have got to the root cause of this issue, and we're preparing fixes
- and the good news is that they are really easy (and almost silent) to
deploy...

Re: Login Issue after upgrading zo 11.1 on Win7SP1 WS

Nate,

the strange thing is that it has never been seen by engineering. But
the good news is that I have seen it on one of my machines (vmware) and
I have spent the last few hours working with one of our guys, and
hopefully we'll have an update...

Re: Login Issue after upgrading zo 11.1 on Win7SP1 WS

I upgraded from 11.0 to 11.1 and windows agents DID upgrade on w7 sp1, but after reboot "Unable to log into the network because the login credentials or the server certificate is incorrect". Unregistered and registered again doesn't fix. Uninstalling and re installing doesn't fix

And what was the nature of the failure?
What part of the logon process failed?
Client Failure? Which Client part?
Server Failure? Which part?

Does the issue only happen once the agent is upgraded?
If you install a fresh old agent it works?
Upgraded agents work fine on XP?

Most Likely in your case, there was an issue with the Update on the
Server and not some issue very specific to Windows 7 SP1.

Re: Login Issue after upgrading zo 11.1 on Win7SP1 WS

Upgraded primary with no errors. Pushed update to satellite servers and other devices from primary. Next morning had this issue. One satellite server showed error on update, but not the others. Agent on all pc's that I have checked (no xp in this zone, still using zfd for xp) had the updated agent.

Not saying that error is specific to w7 sp1, but that is all we have.

Not sure about what you are asking for in the other questions. I can't get the agents to login to the servers. When users login, they are prompted for the zenworks login and if you try to put in their password or even the credentials for the administrator of the zone, you get "Unable to log into the network because the login credentials or the server certificate is incorrect"

I have tried zac unregistering, clearing cache and registering. I have tried uninstalling the agent then re-installing with same results.

What should I look for that could have failed on the server upgrade?

Ok, so I uninstalled an agent, re-installed with agent from Primary server and all is well.

Re: Login Issue after upgrading zo 11.1 on Win7SP1 WS

Docdave22,

can you check one of the "broken" machines, look in the list of
services, and see if "Novell Identity Service" is present?

Hi to all
I have seen the same problem as i have described threads above. The problem is only on win 7 Sp1 machines with the older 11.0 patched Agent. Installing the agent on the same OS (Image) without a ZCM agent on it, the new 11.1 Agent will install and login. when we upgrade to the new 11.1 Agent with existing agent, we get the error " not poosible to login... My solution was to reinstall only the CASA.msi or the CASA.x86_64.msi downloading from the ZCM Server as described in the TID 7008974.
