Migrating Applications using the Migration Wizard

Good Morning -

I am at a client site, yesterday I tried migrating one app from ZDM 7 to ZCM, looks like the migration process completed successfully, but when you associated the app to a user and try to run it, it says that it's still packaging the app. It has be a little more than 24 hrs now.

The customer is running ZCM 10.1.1 on Windows 2003

Has anyone seen this before or maybe knows of a quick work around? The customer has close to 280 apps.

Regards,
Dariusz Swierzewski

Re: Migrating Applications using the Migration Wizard

I've seen apps that fail to bundle never complete.
It fails, does not know it fails, and will stick in bundling forever. In
some rare cases a restart helps.
In most cases its quickest to redo the bundle.

You may want to try multiple apps to see if it was a fluke.

What is a Snapshot App?
Did you convert to an MSI and then Import that?
Did you transfer it as an MSI?
How much Source Code is involved? Lots of Files? Large Files? etc...

Re: Migrating Applications using the Migration Wizard

Craig -

It was an MSI, it was also a very small app. I have tried other apps and it seems to do the same. Then we you redo the app and the server is chewing on others, that app also hangs in the packaging state.

I did try to reboot the box and no luck. At one point we had moved all 280 apps and let it sit there for two days, then I decided to delete all bundles and move them one at a time and no luck.

Re: Migrating Applications using the Migration Wizard

When you migrate the app, there is an option to retain the MSI.
Are you able to import that MSI and create the bundle manually?
This may help isolate where its failing.
But I have not seen this issue for quite a while.

Re: Migrating Applications using the Migration Wizard

Yes, I can create the bundle using the MSI and the custom MST without any problems.
