Slow login on some machines

I have to machines that are the same model and purchased at the same time. One of the machines has a 2-3 minute login time and the other is about 20 seconds. I am running 10.2 on the machines and have added the registry edit to increase the login times. The slowness does not follow the users it is machine related. I have reinstalled the agent and still no increase in speed. Any ideas what could be causing this? This just started happing a few days ago on some of the machines.

Re: Slow login on some machines

Well I can tell you that you are not alone in this issue. I have been experiencing the same thing. Sometimes even on the same machine the login time varies from 20 seconds to 2-3 minutes.

What registry edit to increase login times are you refering to?

This is under the Zenworks 10 Configuration management SPS

Logging in to the user source on a ZENworks Server is slow

Explanation: Logging in to the user source on a ZENworks Server from the managed device might take some time because the login process executes the device refresh synchronously.

Action: To speed up the login process, perform the following steps to change the login process to execute the device refresh asynchronously:

1 Open the Registry Editor.
2 Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Novell\ZENworks.
3 Create a String called ZENLoginUserRefreshAsync and set the value to
TRUE.
4 Log in to the device again.

IMPORTANT: If you change the login process to execute the device refresh
asynchronously, the latest policies might not be immediately available. With
this setting, the choice is login performance over the accuracy of the policies.
