TID #7007545 - AV exclusions updated

Just to let everyone know, that TID #7007545 (AV exclusions with ZCM) was updated on 4/25/11 and has additional exclusions for ZCM 11.

It seemed to make a rather large difference in our setup.

Please Add Group Policies folder under System32 as well to the list.
This will be going into the TID soon.

Re: TID #7007545 - AV exclusions updated

We had that already. I have no problems. Only the long login times. The refresh time after the user typed in his user/pass into novell client.

If you use Group Policies,

There is a new fix coming that deals with certain group policy cache
files being re-written on device start unnecessarily.

This could help some, if using GPOs.

Re: TID #7007545 - AV exclusions updated

Yes, I saw a tremendous improvement.

However, I'm using the ZCM 11 SP1 beta code (anyone can participate as there's a community build you can get). One of the nice new features of the SP1 Beta code is that it tells you the login process, so you can see where the slowdowns are at. In my case, the slowness WAS before the ZENLogin process was even performed. Once I excluded the additional items, it cut my login time in half (and by login time I mean from the time I enter my Novell eDir credentials into the novell client and the time that the windows workstation comes up and ZCM starts doing its thing)

But your mileage may vary.

Re: TID #7007545 - AV exclusions updated

Where do you see the login process? is it on screen,or in a log file?
I've also test workstations without AV scanner, and i don't see any differents.
But a cold start takes still much more time, than a logoff/logon.

Re: TID #7007545 - AV exclusions updated

For me, Everytime my user boot the PC, doscan.exe (Symantec Anti Virus scan) and COLW32.exe (Novell Inventory collection) are running caused the PC extremely slow.

If there any ways to delay the agent to start colw32.exe slightly delay ?

You can configure the inventory to not run at system startup. Perhaps that's what you're doing? The scan options are in the ZCC -> configuration -> Inventory Schedule (and also Asset Inventory schedule if you have purchased the add-on license for ZAM).

Re: TID #7007545 - AV exclusions updated

@ kjhurni

Thank you by showing a hand.
I already set Recurring (Weekly) But I do not understand why ColW32.exe keep appear every time the PC boot up.

Anyone any idea. ColW32.exe = Inventory scanning. Why it's keep appear every reboot/boot up.

my next test is set Inventory scheduling Recurring (Weekly) and Event to ZENworks logout. (From my knowledge If we set Recurring, Event will not works , correct if wrong)
