UDF registry keys

We recently had a virus out break and I created a UDF to query the
workstations registry and report back whether or not they were
infected. This is working fine as long as the registry key exists.
If the value of the key changes that value is updated in ZAM, but if
the key is deleted the value is not removed from the ZAM database.
Does anyone know if you can create a UDF query to query the presence
of a registry key and not its value.
