Updated to 11.4, now user assigned bundles/policies not work

Good morning!

Yesterday I updated our Zenworks from 11.3.2 to 11.4. The update went smoothly, except for one thing at the end. When running the post-update database verification (zdc_verifyDB) I get the following:

>>Begin quote
+ Starting ZENworks Diagnostic Center.

+ ----------------------------------
System Information:
+ ----------------------------------
OS: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 64 bit
Database: Embedded Sybase
ZCM Version: 11.4.0

+ Loading configuration.

+ Initializing native libraries.

+ Attempting to connect to database.
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM warning: You have loaded library /mnt/zcm114/Common/tools/zdc/lib/native/x86_64/libdbjdbc12.so which might have disabled stack guard. The VM will try to fix the stack guard now.
It's highly recommended that you fix the library with 'execstack -c <libfile>', or link it with '-z noexecstack'.

+ Connected to the database.

+ Verifying System State.

+ ----------------------------------
Running 'ZEN' Database Verifier.
+ ----------------------------------

[!] The baseline file does not contain data for verifier 'zendatabase'.

+ Could not run any of the requested verifiers.
>>End quote

The verifier worked properly on the pre-upgrade database.

The main issue I see now is that none of my user-assigned policies or bundles are working, but the device assigned policies and bundles are. This is causing a big issue since most of our users have a DLU policy and several bundles assigned to them and they are not working.

My server is a standalone SLES11.3. I have only the one server, no satellites. I have restarted ZenWorks as well.

What do I need to do?

Thanks,
Aubrey

Did you run the 11.4 zdc downloaded from here: https://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=5XgKbcTLiss~ ?

Re: Updated to 11.4, now user assigned bundles/policies not

I had not, but just did. I extracted it to /srv/ftp/zdc and ran "./zdc verify -v systemfiles, zendatabase, zencontent -b". I "chmod 777"'d zdc first.

Here is the response:

The only file in the /srv/ftp/zdc/data/ folder is zcm_11.4.0.zdc. Where should the baseline_11.4.0.zdc file come from?

According to the docs you should use complete path to zdc, so try: ./zdc verify -v systemfiles, zendatabase, zencontent -b /srv/ftp/zdc/data/zcm_11.4.0.zdc

https://www.novell.com/documentation/zenworks114/zen11_utils/data/boq441g.html

Re: Updated to 11.4, now user assigned bundles/policies not

Thanks, Thomas. I overlooked the complete path part since it was on a separate line. It is running now. I'll post the results when it is finished.

Ok so almost everything looks great 😉 I do not believe the errors reported here are anything related to you issue, have you verified your usersource settings in ZCC, since the problem you are experiencing is user related, maybe the ldap cert have expired or maybe you don't use ssl against you user source?

Re: Updated to 11.4, now user assigned bundles/policies not

The user source I have configured does not use SSL. In ZCC, I can connect and browse the users in eDirectory. The user source has a green dot next to it.

Okay, do you see anything interesting in debug version of zmd-messages.log on the workstation?

There is also a similar issue documented in KB, maybe worth a check: https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7016831

Re: Updated to 11.4, now user assigned bundles/policies not

Ok, I cleared the log, reset it to debug, logged off and back on. And...HEY!! It's working now! I was able to log in and not get the realm login and the bundles assigned to me are in the AppLauncher now! Let me check a couple more workstations to make sure.

I don't see any of the errors mentioned in the services-messages.log, but there are a couple of java exception errors in there. They look like this:
