Upload WinPE.wim

I am attempting to upload WinPE.wim and it acts like is successful, but
never shows as Available. In addition, the file is never put in the
/srv/tftp/boot directory. The ImageX and the Ghost32 files are
successfully put where they belong.

I am currently running 10.2, but had this problem as well with 10.1...
It was just never a big deal. We have many Ghost images and I would
like to get rid of the Ghost server.

Thanks,
Pat.

Re: Upload WinPE.wim

As winpe.wim is an huge file it would take some time to do content replicate on the server. But i had one question without uploading winpe.wim you can't upload either ghost or imagex, the upload button for these wont be enabled until winp.wim is available.

I understand that it will take a while, but 5 days???

It appears, from the interface that ZENworks realizes I uploaded the
file, but it continually says "Not Available" when clicking on status.
Also, when I check the tftp directory, the winpe.wim file is no where to
be found.

Re: Upload WinPE.wim

Sorry to resurrect a old topic, but we are having exactly the same problem with the WinPE.wim not showing as available.

Around 30 days have passed... still nothing.

Any word on how this was resolved?

10.2 on Sles system.

I am not sure because i have not test it but i think ghost imaging operation is also using winpe as the operating system to run ghost. This is certainly why you need winpe before you can upload imagex and ghost.

Re: Upload WinPE.wim

Hi, sorry wikid headache, so my prev post was not very well thought out.

Just confirmed with my server guy and we are running 10.3.a

I can upload the winpe and imagex files fine, and the imagex files do replicate to all servers and the winpe.wim file replicates to all servers, except for the one that I need it on.

Example:
Content Replicated : "winpe.wim"

srvslszen004 Available
srvslszen003 Available
srvslszen005 Available
srvslszen002 Not Available
srvslszen001 Available

Same results on dev boxes we have.

Any ideas?

Re: Upload WinPE.wim

Got it sorted. The waik files are in a zip file in the tmp folder on the server. Copied them over to the workstation, unzipped them and then manually copied them to the srv/tftp and srv/tftp/boot directory. All is working now. Winpe.cfg and pxement.txt will be modified.
