Re: WOL not working

I started a WOL command for a group of devices and I captured packets with
Wireshark on the server.
For wich type of paquet should I look for ? Broadcast paquets ?
Broadcast paquets are only sent to the same VLAN as the server. Server is
on VLAN 10.0.90.0 and paquets are only sent to that VLAN.
Thanks for some more help.

Re: WOL not working

Sorting paquets on protocol WOL, nothing appear. No WOL protocol paquets
are sent from the server.

Re: WOL not working

I did the test again with devices in VLAN 90 (same as the ZCM server) and in
VLAN 80.
Devices in VLAN 90 works fine with WOL but nothing happen on devices in VLAN
80 (failure status).
In the paquet trace, I see 2 UDP paquets going to destination .255. In the
Wireshark info section, source port is 1104 and destination port is 1761.
Also tried using a device as a proxy without success.
Thanks for your help.

well that's the magic packet

yes, that's why you need routers to support directed subnet
broadcasting, to forward the packet on - ZENworks cannot do this.

Re: WOL not working

We have 3Com switchs and it worked in ZCM version 10.0.3.2.
We didn't make any changes in our switch.
Where should I look for at this time ?

Re: WOL not working

Normand,

go and check the switch configuration - see exactly what it's set for
with directed subnet broadcasts...

Re: WOL not working

Does IGMP Snooping having something to do with multicast WOL packet ?

Re: WOL not working

Normand,

WOL isn't multicast, it's a broadcast...
