Win7 Image Size ??

Hi all: Just wanted to get a reading on how big are some of your Win7 images. We have a fairly simple base image consisting of a fully updated Win7 64-bit OS, and a few applications, FireFox, GroupWise client, LibreOffice, and 7-Zip. Prior to today my previous Win7 image was approx 5.5 GB with balanced compression. This morning I updated my base image by installing several Win7 updates from MS along with an update to Firefox. After taking a new image, the image file ballooned to 5.9 GB. I just can't believe the MS updates used 400 MB.

So, do these image sizes seem reasonable for the basic Win7 install? Have you found ways to reduce your Win7 image sizes?

Thanks, Chris.

Good point. Deleting old service packs is generally a good idea.

Right, and you can even remove the file, that's used to determine which
updates is installed etc. About 200MB 🙂
