Windows 8.1 support?

Hi Folks!

I patched my ZCM 11.2 to 11.2.4 yesterday and applied the November 13 PRU in hopes of getting Windows 8.1 support without success. When I attempt to import a Win 8.1 workstation zac still returns "unsupported".

Any idea when this support is coming?

Thanks,

Ian

Re: Windows 8.1 support?

Ianp123,

at the moment, we're looking at 11.3.1 for this

That's great (I think...)! Do we have a tentative ship date?

Re: Windows 8.1 support?

Ianp123,

actually I heard that we're hoping to do something special maybe one
month after 11.3 ships, so it should be sooner than that

I'm currently testing 11.6 Beta 6 in my test environment and it seems to work there, so I guess it's a qualified yes.

But still, are one not able to install the agent on 8.1? I know that I
am - maybe not supported, but it works 😉

FYI Windows 8.1 support is now available with ZENworks 11 SP3 via a
supplemental update - please see TID 7014805.

Re: Windows 8.1 support?

Simon,

and I have serious concerns - if you deploy it in a multi-server zone
you get a warning
" The wizard cannot continue for the following reason(s):
ErrorUnable to complete your request for the following reason: The
ZENworks Server or the ZENworks Loader services are running on one or
more Primary Servers. Shut down the services before proceeding."
and there's nothing in the documentation that tells you that this is
necessary, or why. I couldn't recommend this to anyone at this time

Re: Windows 8.1 support?

Good thing! I didn't want to have to deploy Windows 8.0!!!

Today, Microsoft officially announced Windows 8.1 Update to be released April 8. It has been leaked online for weeks now.

Any idea if the new ZCM Windows 8.1 Update will be compatible or if we'll need to wait for ZENworks 11.3.0 Windows 8.1 Update Update ? 😉
