ZCM 11.3.2 physical machine to ZCM 11.4.3 or ZCM 2017 VM

This is a variation on an earlier posting.

I am looking at upgrading a ZCM 11.3.2 runing on a physical machine to a later version such as 11.4.3 or probably ZCM 2017 on a VM

I'm wondering what steps to do, what if any steps to skip.

I thought I'd start with the windows 2012 VM and migrate the existing zcm. . By backing up db and cert shut down existing server, install new 2012 VM with same name and IP. Then install same version of zcm as old server and restore, the db and cert. Yes?

If the above works out OK can I then upgrade directly to 2017 from 11.3.2 or do I need to upgrade to 11.4 and also run the post sp4 update?

Thanks

Thomas

No.........Your process will not work............

Under the Disaster Recovery Guide, there is a section on Hardware Replacement.
I presume your 11.3.x server is Windows as well.
You would need to be sure to Install ZCM to the same path on the new server, so the restore process which contains paths is correct.
There is no reason why your new server cannot be a VM as part of the Hardware replacement.

ZCM Primary VMs do required Dedicated Memory due to Java Requirements ..........

Re: ZCM 11.3.2 physical machine to ZCM 11.4.3 or ZCM 2017 VM

So,

Yes physical is windows 2008

So do I:

Backup db and cert on existing physical and then shut it down

install new VM win 2012 server. Same server name adn IP address as original

Install same version of ZCM into same paths on new VM

Restore db and cert to new VM

Then If that all works I have a windows 2012 server with ZCM 11.2.2

Can I then directly upgrade that to ZCM 2017?

Just follow the docs..........

I just tried to point out a few key items, but any attempt to summarize the entire process would no doubt miss lots of stuff............

That doc is based on sp4 but it will be the same process for sp3 right? I assume it's just a later version of the doc,
