Re: ZESService causing Windows 7 to reboot

Imc,

like Rune says - for the moment this is expected behaviour...

Re: ZESService causing Windows 7 to reboot

I understand it's working as intended. However, this line under TID 7008447 suggests there is a way to disable it:

"If the ZESM spoke is unlicensed or disabled, contact NTS for a way to disable client self defense. "

But I'm reluctant to waste another $650 SR contacting NTS. That's why I'm asking here because if there's a TID, there may be a chance the procedure is common knowledge.

Re: ZESService causing Windows 7 to reboot

Imc,

I hope it's not common knowledge, because it's not one of those things
we really want to get into the public, as it will change over time, and
things that get in to "folklore" end up causing more harm in my
experience, because people see something on Google and say "this is how
it's meant to be", when the world has moved on. This "workaround" is
designed to deal with a real problem, not the problem you're having,
unless you are also having AV issues? You replied to a message of mine
about a shutdown issue, and that is resolved...

Re: ZESService causing Windows 7 to reboot

If you are a Educational Customer, you normally buy a bundle of SRs.
After an SR is complete, it is defect related, you can normally request
a refund. Therefore if you have had a past set of 5 SRs, many of those
could be refunded to allow you to open more SRs. You may or may not
need to request the SR to be credited back. In regards to ZENworks SRs,
this tends to not be an issue so long as the request is reasonable.

Though I can't say it would always be granted.

Re: ZESService causing Windows 7 to reboot

Shaun, I get the folklore thing.

But, in my case the issue we're having is randomly zesservice.exe wipes out and reboots various machines. I didn't see in the thread where that has been fixed. I'll take this up with NTS then.

Re: ZESService causing Windows 7 to reboot

Kerengil,

11.0 or 11.1? And what version of ZESM?

Re: ZESService causing Windows 7 to reboot

11.0 and ZESM is not applied.

Kerengil,

ZESM is always applied, even if it's not licensed, since it's used for
Locations. Do you have CAP2a applied? That fixes most of the ZESM BSOD
issues...

Re: ZESService causing Windows 7 to reboot

I'm having this same exact problem with XP. Any word on if a TID with the workaround is available?

mbrady;2083661 wrote:
I opened an SR. The person I spoke with said there was not any agent patches. But, she did get a workaround setup for me that resulted in ZESM being turned off on the workstations. That's what I was after. She is working on a TID, I will post the link as soon as I see it.

Re: ZESService causing Windows 7 to reboot

Thought that I'll share my discovery here.

ZENworks Adaptive Agent Version: 11.0.0.41501
Windows 7 64bit

When I start a dialup connection ZESService crashes and reboots the workstation. I have set the work arrount or its recovery to do nothing. I hope that this has been fixed in SP1 as I plan to upgrade soon.

Could someone test and confirm please.
