delete old satellite device objects

Having dusted off our old test environment we have a couple of satellites that are no longer with us.... One was physical and has been 're-tasked' the other was a VM that was 'tidied up'.
I inadvertently forgot about these prior to modelling our 11.3.1 update, so now they are considered 'older' and can't be re-configured (i.e. sat roles removed) to enable deletion...

Is it possible to force some zman commands or is there some other way of getting these out of the system?

Cheers

I think I've had to do this before, and I thought it was as simple as going into the ZCC in the Devices -> Servers section and just deleting the object.

But I could be wrong.

I think you're right, haven't got a zcc here to check though... Else zman
can do it 🙂

Something about you cant remove roles from the satellite if it's on an old
version, but you should be able to delete:
http://www.novell.com/documentation/zenworks11/zen11_utils/data/b74pt40.html
I hope the link works...

Afraid not...! Are you talking about ssd?

It seems like it's in a bit of a quandary...

ZCC says it's a satellite and can't see anything else....

Any suggestions!?!?

Does it have any associations? Can delete it from the configuration page in
the zcc then?

zman sslr returns empty and zcc shows it as a satellite with no roles but a parent... However, the satellite does not live below the shown parent (or any other primary) in the config->server hierarchy...
If I try and change the parent, to make it visible in server hierarchy then it comes back to older version.... and round we go again...!

Re: delete old satellite device objects

Hi

Hmm... I just did a testing; I had a satellite on 11.2.3a, zone on 11.3.1. Went to the configuration page, found the primary server that was the parent of that satellite. Arrow down, and marked the sat and selected "Remove Satellite Server". That removed it from being a sat, you don't have that option?

Re: delete old satellite device objects

unfortunately the satellite does not appear below the shown parent (or any other primary) in the config->server hierarchy...
However, when I was at the beginning of this I believe that was the selection that gave me the 'older version' message.
Never mind, it's only a test system, I'll keep poking it as and when...

Re: delete old satellite device objects

Did you ever figure this out? I'm in the same situation with a satellite server that I can not delete via ZCC or via command line using zman. I can't find any referencing object or configurations.

Re: delete old satellite device objects

Hi

Finally found a way of removing the satellite roles from a device that reports to be a satellite but doesn't show roles, etc. in ZCC...

Based on info found in https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7001869

To remove Satellite Roles

Get the GUID of the "satellite" from ZCC

Go to https://<server>/zenworks-zoneconfigadmin/?test and authenticate

Select boolean delete(java.lang.String arg0)
(This equated to https://<server>/zenworks-zoneconfigadmin/?test=65 on my current 11.4.1 server)

Paste in the GUID and Invoke

If you refresh ZCC you should now see the device returned to it's "normal" state (i.e. workstation or server)

I was then able to delete using ZCC.

(Alt. you could use the https://<server.ip>/zenworks-deviceadmin/?test and then select boolean delete(java.lang.String arg0), paste in GUID and invoke...)

HTH
