SC Magazine Names Novell ZENworks a ‘Must See’ Product

Protecting your remote endpoints is one of the most important jobs that you have as an IT manager. These critical entry points provide direct access into your enterprise over the Web. Therefore, you want to take no chances with the software that you use to manage them. It needs to perform flawlessly.

According to a recent review from SC Magazine, a go-to source for IT security professionals, Novell ZENworks Endpoint Security Management system—a platform designed to track, manage and protect endpoint devices—is more than capable of delivering first class endpoint management solutions.

Just how well did ZENworks fare in its August review? Here is a breakdown of the findings:

    • Five stars across the board: ZENworks received five stars (the top score) in the following sections: features, ease of use, performance, documentation, support, value for money and overall rating.

    • Zero weaknesses: SC Magazine found no weaknesses to report in the ZENworks platform.

    • A must-see product: A “fully integrated and well-designed product,” SC Magazine announced, heralding ZENworks as a “must see” for network professionals.

What is it about ZENworks that gave it such a strong ranking? As SC Magazine Technology Editor Peter Stephenson explains, ZENworks hits the mark by controlling security and operating directly at the endpoint, offering central management capabilities.

“By creating and managing policies from a central location, Novell ZENworks Endpoint Security Management makes it possible to implement and enforce tightly controlled, highly adaptive security policies without placing any configuration or enforcement burden on end users,” explains Stephenson.

Stephenson also touches on the product’s ability to safeguard against security loopholes and unauthorized third-party use.

“The tool also offers client self-defense capabilities that provide assurance that security policies are not circumvented, as well as a complete suite of monitoring, alerting, reporting and auditing tools,” he explains.

As stated in the article, among the features that stand out is the ZENworks Control Center, a Web-based console that provides easy access for IT managers. Over this portal, devices can be managed; messages can be sent to end users, which can streamline communication; patching can be performed; and devices can be easily configured. Stephenson also mentions how ZENworks provides removable media solutions, which can protect data stored on USB devices, DVDs, CDs, MP3 players, ZIP drives, floppy disks and more.
