Any love for CentOS7?

I just tried eDirectory 9 installation with CentOS 7 and it did not
succeed. There seems to be more checks that block use on other than
proprietary RH environment.

Anyone else tried? I wish NetIQ could leave the door open to open source
people as well.

Re: Any love for CentOS7?

Did you try the non-root installation? It's just a tarball so you can
extract and run anywhere, and while the main eDirectory install probably
checks platform stuff, I doubt the non-root one does since there's really
no install other than for NICI and novell-NOVLsubag, and you can probably
force that at the RPM level.

Support is not an option either way, though, as you probably expected.

Re: Any love for CentOS7?

I did not try it since I administer the server. But it is a viable
choice to get the benefits of version 9. Thanks for the tip.

...I've survived so far without the need for support other than bug
reporting and this news group.. fingers crossed. Thanks AB and others
for doing good work here.

Re: Any love for CentOS7?

Have you actually tried/tested it?

I thought SLES12 was also unsupported by looking at the same
/etc/init.d/ndsd file but it is a "red herring".

eDir 9.0 actually supports "real" systemd services.

Check out more details here: http://tinyurl.com/hbebfb6

Darren

Yes I tried to install it did not work. I remember it did not install
with the installer and doing rpm install had something about google
perftools library being too old or other conflicts.

I will try it again soon with more time.
