Building the library from source

The source distribution, cldap_source_August2008.tar.gz, does not contain a
"configure" script for building on Unix. I am trying to build a version for
HP-UX Itanium which is not currently one of the available binary
distributions.

I've tried using autoconf to generate one from the configure.ac file that is
included, but I've run into several errors and missing files (such as the
openldap M4 macros).

Is there a reason why the build files are not included for Unix? Has anyone
successfully built the source on a Unix platform?

As a comparison, I downloaded the latest openLDAP source distribution on a
Linux box and was able to build successfully using the supplied "configure"
script. However, the Novell distribution, provides all the binary
distributions I need (especially the windows one), except for the HP-UX
Itanium platform.

Thanks,
Brian
