ConnectException inside iManager

Hi There,

I have installed IDM4.6 on a windows machine 2012. I have already installed all the license but past few days we are unable to login inside iManager receiving following error while trying to connect with eDirectory :

connectException connection refused : connect
.

I have already checked my eDirectory is running through ndscheck.exe. No error is coming up there.

Re: ConnectException inside iManager

Wherever iManager is trying to reach eDirectory that eDirectory instance
is not responding. I have not had iManager on windows in the past, but if
it is like the SUSE, RedHat, OES, or even the NetWare installs, you should
have a tree field where you can specify the DNS name of your eDirectory
server, including an optional port if you have changed from the default of
TCP 524.

If you still get the error, then you probably need to fix a firewall
somewhere. Usually that would be on the eDirectory side, but since you
are on windows you may also need to configure the firewall to allow
iManager out to the eDirectory server.

You may want to try iManager Workstation, if you have not done so already,
to see if that option works for you. It is a simple zip file that you can
extract to your workstation. If you do not have the OES Client already
(which comes with NICI), install the included NICI binary, and then run
the script that starts the program and you're set. It is a good option
both for troubleshooting as well as for production use since it is easy to
customize, redistribute, and restore.

Re: ConnectException inside iManager

The thing is that both my iManager and eDirectory are installed on the Windows server and the firewall is turned off.

For the eDirectory instance we use mainly IP address use.

I will try installing iManager Workstation on Windows.

Just for information .

Will it have any impact on the eDirectory

Hmmm.......... well in that case it is definitely unusual, particularly if
you are using the default port (TCP 524) for NCP in eDirectory, and if you
specified the local system's primary IP address (the on on which
eDirectory listens for traffic) in the Tree field.

"Install" means extract a zip file, so it is painless to everything. Just
use the same version as you have for iManager (server) itself. If it asks
you to install NICI, or tells you it needs to upgrade it, probably better
to stop and instead put it on another machine, as changing NICI in big
ways, e.g. by going to a too-new version for your eDirectory install,
could break eDirectory until you resolve the incompatibility.
