ICE and multi-valued attributes

We are using ICE in certain instances to export user and attribute information to csv but have issues with the multi-value feature in current versions of the product. When specifying the column order, the number of populated values for a multi-valued attribute will appear in the output file based on the number of times you list the column/attribute name. That works when you are looking to limit 2 or more values but not if you only want one value to be returned. For instance, if you list the attribute name twice and there are 4 populated values, you will only see 2 values in the output. If you only use the column name once in the column order it returns all values for the attribute. Does anyone know how to limit the output to 1 value of a multi-valued attribute using ICE (yes, we know we can switch to other tools, scripts, etc.... to accomplish this task...I am specifically asking about ICE).
