Novell JDK - Oracle Or Not ?

Good Day,

We are auditing all our versions of Java we have installed on any server. Our 2 iManager show up as having Novell JDK installed :

novell-jdk-1.8.0_144-1.noarch

We would like to know if this is Novell's own version or is this related to Oracle's version.

Regards

Re: Novell JDK - Oracle Or Not ?

AFIAK it's a repackages Oracle JDK. To be sure, just look what's inside the rpm:

# rpm -qa | grep novell-jdk
novell-jdk-1.8.0_131-1
# rpm -ql novell-jdk | grep jre/bin/java
/opt/novell/jdk1.8.0_131/jre/bin/java
/opt/novell/jdk1.8.0_131/jre/bin/javaws
# /opt/novell/jdk1.8.0_131/jre/bin/java -version
java version "1.8.0_131"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_131-b11)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 25.131-b11, mixed mode)

Note: Since Micro Focus is switching to OpenJDK in general, the contents of that rpm may change in newer versions as well. E.g. IDM 4.7 installs:

# rpm -qf /opt/novell/eDirectory/lib64/nds-modules/jre/bin/java
netiq-jrex-1.8.0-212.x86_64
# /opt/novell/eDirectory/lib64/nds-modules/jre/bin/java -version
openjdk version "1.8.0_212"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (Zulu 8.38.0.13-CA-linux64) (build 1.8.0_212-b04)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (Zulu 8.38.0.13-CA-linux64) (build 25.212-b04, mixed mode)
