Re: Novell eDirectory Agent Closed

Though this is an old thread, it still just happend to me when
installing eDir 8.8 SP8 Patch 5 on a Windows Server 2012 R2 (64 bit).
Unfortunately I cannot find any other references to this issue 😞

eDirectory is up and running, netstat is showing server is listening on
524 and other servers sees it as Up.

Compared to another Windows 2003 server (running an older version of
eDir), the "NetIQ eDirectory Services" in Control Panel is not showing
the server name in its header, nor in the Server Field. It just says:
[NetIQ eDirectory Agent Closed] and no services are shown. We've
checked that the service is set to interact with desktop and have tried
restarting eDir, but no changes.

I was wondering if the change of name in services would have something
to do With it ("x63 NDS..." instead of just "NDS..."), but as this is an
old thread I guess it must be something else...

Anyone have found a solution to this yet??

regards,
Patrick

Re: Novell eDirectory Agent Closed

Is eDirectory actually working despite this? Are you accessing the
windows machine's physical terminal, or are you RDP-ing in? If RDP, are
you using the /console option with 'mstsc', or not?

Re: Novell eDirectory Agent Closed

As we are in a testing phase we did not check the details of eDirectory
on the new server 'works'. But all other servers see it as being up and
sync is fine. At the moment there are no replica on the server, as it's
a test server. Though I've asked customer to try login With Novell
Client using the server as target, or using iManager towards the server
to see if that works as well.

It's a virtual server on VMware and we've tested with both the vSphere
Client and RDP, though no different behaviour.
