Re: edir 8.8.5: ndsconfig fails "Unable to get host IP address"

Confirmed, I reinstalled eDirectory on SUSE Linux just to investigate
this & found out :

The error *will* show up when the hostname of that server is not in
/etc/hosts

The values in the DN of server/admin is *NOT* relevant.

In my case, I setup a server with hostname of "megasles1". However,
SLES (Suse Linux Enterprise), for unknown reason, does NOT put that
hostname to /etc/hosts

I have to put it in manually in /etc/hosts, example :

192.168.56.103 megasles1

Then ndsconfig finally able to create the new tree with no problem.

I'm even able to set it up so it'll listen on ALL existing network
interfaces / IP addresses.
(that particular server is connected to 3 different subnets. No
problem)

Hope it helps someone else.

Thanks,
Harry

Re: edir 8.8.5: ndsconfig fails "Unable to get host IP address"

I had the same problem when installing OES11 beta. Had to do what you did to get OES installed.
