Remove Server From Tree - Admin Account

I was not able to ndsconfig -rm a server from the Tree using my Admin equivalent account. -601

So, after deleting partitions I deleted the server and objects manually and all is well.

Can you only remove a server with ndsconfig -rm as Admin.

New job, please don't ask why I don't have the Admin password.

Re: Remove Server From Tree - Admin Account

Could have been a 610 error. I didn't write it down and moved on. Time was in sync etc.

Re: Remove Server From Tree - Admin Account

You can only use 'ndsconfig rm' with an account that has rights to do so,
and since this is necessarily deleting the server object, and possibly
before that modifying partition roots (including the tree [root] in many
cases), this usually means you need a tree admin. Anybody can be a tree
admin, if given the rights (Supervisor to [Entry Rights], inheritable, at
the tree [root]; that one ACL is all you need), so the documentation and
TIDs all just point to 'admin' and assume you have somebody with those
rights, since otherwise you are probably not working as well as possible.

I almost never use 'ndsconfig rm' anymore; it's far easier to just be sure
the server is no longer used, turn the physical/virtual box off, and then
delete the NCP Server object (as you did) via LDAP, then clean up the
server-related objects. Because eDirectory uses references for the server
in things that matter, many things clean themselves up, including
partitions, various service objects, etc.

Re: Remove Server From Tree - Admin Account

Was sure I typed the dn correctly and my account has full Admin rights.

Yes, what I did worked fine.

Thank you AB!
