Server in same subnet

I have a query, I have 2 servers, in one server I installed Admin Console and on other server I installed eDirectory. If both of these server are in same subnet for ex: 144.155.67.x/24 and 144.155.67.y/24.

Do I still need to open port 524, 636 and 389 between these 2 servers.

Thanks & Regards,
Mudit Gupta

Re: Server in same subnet

The Admin Console is a component of Access Manager (NAM) and includes
eDirectory already.

If you want them to communicate with eachother then of course you need to
be sure that firewalls are not in the way, though if you have installed
eDirectory on a plain windows box for some reason you probably do not want
that server to communicate via NCP (port 524) with the Admin Console. It
may hold users and need to be accessible via LDAP or LDAPS (port 636) but
that is another story.

It would help if you included your business case for everything.

Good luck.

Re: Server in same subnet

Hi Mudit,
You didn't mention OS of your servers.
From Windows 2012R2 MS do enable FW by default. Same for new Linux versions.

You maybe have to confirm, that internal FW doesn't block NCP traffic.
