"systemctl enable novell-tomcat8"

should do the trick.

But you may run into a bug with the /etc/init.d/novell-tomcat8 script that
systemd automatically converts to a service unit: the LSB comments mention
/var/run/novell-tomcat4.pid as pid file while the script itself work on
/var/run/novell-tomcat8.pid. You can verify this by running

"systemctl status novell-tomcat8 -l"

and see if you get something like this:

● novell-tomcat8.service - LSB: Tomcat 4.0 Servlet Engine
Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/novell-tomcat8; bad; vendor preset: disabled)
Active: failed (Result: resources) since Mon 2017-04-24 12:27:08 CEST; 8min
ago
Docs: man:systemd-sysv-generator(8)
Process: 2501 ExecStart=/etc/init.d/novell-tomcat8 start (code=exited,
status=0/SUCCESS)

Apr 24 12:27:08 idv46 systemd[1]: Starting LSB: Tomcat 4.0 Servlet Engine...
Apr 24 12:27:08 idv46 su[2507]: (to novlwww) root on none
Apr 24 12:27:08 idv46 su[2507]: pam_unix(su-l:session): session opened for user
novlwww by (uid=0)
Apr 24 12:27:08 idv46 novell-tomcat8[2501]: Starting tomcat8: Tomcat started.
Apr 24 12:27:08 idv46 systemd[1]: novell-tomcat8.service: PID file
/var/run/novell-tomcat4.pid not readable (yet?) after start: No such file or
directory

Workaround until the is is fixed by MF: edit /etc/init.d/novell-tomcat8 and
change the LSB comments at the top from:

# pidfile: /var/run/novell-tomcat4.pid
# config: /etc/opt/novell/tomcat4/tomcat4.conf

to

# pidfile: /var/run/novell-tomcat8.pid
# config: /etc/opt/novell/tomcat8/tomcat8.conf

You may also want to open a SR and ask for a fix for
https://bugzilla.netiq.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1035685 to give this issue
additional weight and help getting all of us a timely solution.

PS: you need to run

"systemctl daemon-reload"

after editing before you can actually start the new configuration.
