eDir 8.8.8 & encoding issue

Hi all,

I have a Java script running on a Windows server which pull data from a web service and push them in eDirectory.

The web service supports a subset of the UTF-8 specification.
Specifically, any character that can be encoded in three bytes or less is supported.
BMP characters and supplementary characters that must be encoded using four bytes are not supported at this time.

When testing my script, I pulled a "ë" and push it in eDirectory, but got a "ë".
So I am assuming there is an encoding issue.
Would it be possible to change the encoding in eDirectory?

Many thanks in advance for your help,

Re: eDir 8.8.8 & encoding issue

While I have never tried this with eDirectory on windows, I have never had
unicode issues with eDirectory in the past when using external services
for data import/export via LDAP. I presume you are using LDAP for the
eDirectory side of things.

eDirectory itself stores data as given, and sends it back when requested,
so I would highly suspect that encoding issues would more likely be in the
script outside eDirectory, but it's also possible eDirectory, particularly
on windows, has a bug. Could you share the code you are using, and
preferably the raw LDIF LDAP) data so we can duplicate it on our systems?

Could you also please cite the character in its unicode form? The version
you pasted into the post is not showing up correctly for me, probably lost
in translation on its way through the NNTP gateway.

Good luck.
