eDir 9.04 install issue -- "access denied" after adding replica

Hello,

I installed eDir 9.04 on a RHEL 7 server and added it to my tree.
Initially I ran afoul of the known RHEL bug where ndsconfig fails when
you use sudo instead of being 'really root'. I logged on as root and
added the server to the tree successfully. I then added a R/W replica
of [root]. This completed successfully (replica state went from 'New'
to 'On'), but almost immediately after that, the server stopped talking
to the other replica servers, showing -625 errors in ndsrepair -E and
ndsrepair -T. Running ndsrepair on the new server returns "unable to
connect to NDS Server. Connection refused."

What should I check first?

Thanks

A bit more information -- I hit 'send' prematurely...

I ran ndsmanage and found the eDirectory instance 'inactive'. I
selected 'start the instance' and after about a minute, I got this:

Starting NetIQ eDirectory server...
Job for
ndsdtmpl-etc-opt-novell-eDirectory-conf-nds.conf@-etc-opt-novell-eDirectory-conf-env.service
failed because a configured resource limit was exceeded. See "systemctl
status
ndsdtmpl-etc-opt-novell-eDirectory-conf-nds.conf@-etc-opt-novell-eDirectory-conf-env.service"
and "journalctl -xe" for details.

Now checking those logfiles.

I've previously had to increase the configured timeout for startup, but I don't know if that will help you or not here. A simple eDirectory server should normally start pretty quickly. But, it's cheap, quick, and easy to find out.

Find the eDirectory template file. Add "TimeoutStartSec=" to it, with some reasonable value. Then re-test.

I haven't looked at that yet, but I thought I would add that when I ran
journalctl -xe I got this:

Appears it was a disk issue -- as in /var was nearly full. Reinstalled
eDir, then repaired the local database. All is well now.
