eDirectory 8.8 Master/Replica

How I can know the time it takes to sync between master and replica
directory?

You can look at the sync information in iMonitor for the partition....

But the time it takes to sync depends on how much has changed in the
replica since the last sync cycle. Unless you have a constant rate of
change (and a constant amount of data changing) every cycle, it'd be
impossible to say that it will take, say, 5 minutes every cycle.

What is it that you're trying to achieve?

Re: eDirectory 8.8 Master/Replica

Hi my friend,

the test is:

I turn off the replica sbmdenci03 (i use command line rcndsd stop),
but after 8 minutes i see in iMonitor that the replica is off.

Why delay in iMonitor?

Please see here for reference ----------------> 'Venkizmet'

thanks

Because iMonitor provides status based on the last time it tried to
communicate. So in this instance, the eDir service on sbmdenci03 was
turned off and there was no attempt to communicate from the master for
any background process (not just sync), so there would be no reason for
the server to know that the server's service was shut off until it tried
to communicate.

Nothing to worry about here - the default sync interval is 60 minutes
IIRC, so if you turned the server off right after the sync cycle ended,
you might not see any status update on other servers in the ring until
that 60 minutes had elapsed, unless another eDir process attempted to
communicate.

Re: eDirectory 8.8 Master/Replica

It automatically syncs every hour in each direction, unless something
triggers an immediate sync. That would be any update to a sync_immediate
attribute of an object, or the creation of a new object.\

When an immediate sync is triggered it would usually happen within
about 10 seconds, but it's not deterministic. There are dependencies on
server hardware, network bandwidth and latency, and how busy the servers
are with other tasks. If it's critical you could just time it in your
environment.

And immediate sync doesn't guarantee the information is immediately
synchronized - IIRC, doesn't it just kick the current sync queue off? If
an immediate sync flagged attribute is at position 10,000 in the sync
queue, it has to wait until the queue has synced to that point.

Priority sync pushes that change immediately and bypasses the standard
sync queue.

All true, though priority sync sends it via UDP so be sure you have
decent links there; if that fails, sync immediate picks it up within ten
seconds anyway.

Good luck.
