eDirectory not starting suddenly

we have eDirectory 9.1  installed with IDM4.6.3 in RHEL server

 Suddenly edirectory not starting.  

ndsmanage shows below error 

Executing customized settings before starting the NetIQ eDirectory server...
Starting NetIQ eDirectory server...
The NetIQ eDirectory DIB directory (/var/opt/novell/eDirectory/data/dib) does not exist. ndsd will not start up.
NetIQ eDirectory server startup failed.
For more information view the following log file : /var/opt/novell/eDirectory/log/ndsd.log
[FAILED]

 

ndsd.log shows like below

Oct 07 04:34:24 About to start NetIQ eDirectory server on host: <hostname>

unable to set server mode for nici  as /var/opt/novell does not have nici folder , but i have both 34 and 64 bit nici rpms installed. 

puzzled at the moment what could be thereason, need help in troubleshooting this issue more and to fix this issue 

Could this be fixed ?

Does

- /var/opt/novell/eDirectory/data/dib

- /var/opt/novell/nici

still exist on the server and contain data?

dib and nici folder no more exists .

It looks like eDirectory is uninstalled, thatsy i couldnot see the folders, eDirectory is resinstalled/upgraded but still nici folder does not exists. while reinstallation, an error was thrown saying
"/var/opt/novell/nici/set_server_mode64: No such file or directory
ERROR: Could not set NICI to server mode"

Non of the nici Folders, config files, libraries are present. But as part edirectory installation it is observed that 64 bit NICI-3.1 is installed . what could be reason for missing NICI files, should we restart linux server itself ?
