Authentication asked for medium security level printer?

Hi all.

I have stumbled a few times in a case where medium security level
printer starts to ask authentication (and refusing to authenticate no
matter what you enter in box). This seems to be related to workstation,
not to server, because rebooting workstation always solves the problem.

Two node clustered NW 6.5SP5 (with patches), iPrint client 4.26, Novell
Client 4.91SP3 (with public patches).

Any idea what might be causing this?

We run into this a lot to, check the following:

Is the SLPDA still loaded? (Mine's been randomly unloading since SP6)

Is time in sync?

Are all of your servers at the same eDirectory level? (You should be
running 8.7.3.9 if possible).

Is there any latency happening on your network?

If it's just one PC make sure the cable's good, the jack's good, and
they're not running off a hub.

Still using SP5, and SLPDA is running.

Yes.

Should be. Can't be sure about all of them. Our tree is pretty
complicated and I don't have root-access.

I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with server, because we have
nearly 100 printers in our server and this doesn't happen to all of them
at once, only a few or just one, and rebooting the workstation always
solves the problem.

Several PC:s and random times, it seems. It is also pretty rare case, so
I haven't been able to reproduce the symptom in order to debug.

It feels like iPrint client somehow starts to think that printer is
high-security one, and asks for authentication even that it is not required.
